As you may know (or not) one of my closest friend ( Lea ) lives in Singapore. She was back in France back in January when we spent some days in Bordeaux ( link here ). After that, I visit her in June and went to Singapore and Langkawi ( link here ) .
Now, she is back again in France for some days 🙂
She came to Bordeaux to visit me. So I decided it would be great to go to Arcachon and climbing the Dune of Pyla.
Arcachon is a city located in the south-west of France, on the atlantic coast where it forms a bay which is named Bay of Arcachon. It is a popular swimming destination not far from Bordeaux. Also the bay is a place where a lot of famous people have their vacation houses. Arcachon has a beautiful downtown with a lot of charm and unique architecture.
From downtown to seafront 🙂
We ate in a restaurant called La Saison 2. Since we saw that restaurant classified in first position on Tripadvisor in Arcachon we decided to go there. The restaurant has pink flashy front (you cannot miss it). It is located in a shopping street just a few minutes walk from the sea. The menu propose various salty or sweety crepes and burgers. The burgers are somewhat originals since the slices of bread is replaced by sesame crepes. I chose to taste the burger with salmon.
After that we went to Dune of Pyla (Pilat, I don’t know cause there is 2 way of writting it). On our way, we stop by some cute places.
- The Dune of Pilat is the tallest sand dune in Europe. It is located in the Arcachon Bay area. Its height is currently 110 meters above sea level. The dune is a famous tourist destination with more than one million visitors per year.
But first, we stopped by a charming chapel to take some photos.
Then we climbed the numerous stairs to go up the dune.
It is unbelievable, when you’re in the middle of the dune you feel like you’re in a middle of a desert like Sahara.
We decided to wait until the sunset down on the ocean. Couldn’t have a better idea cause the sunset was beautiful up the dune ❤
Hope it gives you the envy to visit Arcachon and to go to the Dune of Pyla. It really worths it !!!!
Stay tuned to the following part in Bordeaux 😉
