I hope everything is fine for you 🙂
Today I’m gonna share with you my sunday-funday trip to Rocamadour.
- What is Rocamadour ?
Rocamadour is a village in the Lot department in southwestern France. It is very famous for its historical monuments built in a cliff above former gorge of a river and its sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
After a good saturday night out with friends, we decided on the sunday to go to Rocamadour to visit. All of us never went there but we’ve heard of it. Also the weather was awesome, sunny and warm #IndianSummer ahah. Rocamadour was 1h20 away from we were (Limoges).
Rocamadour is a very touristic place in summer but at this time of the year it is relatively calm. So we could enjoy the place nicely.
The town is built down the monastery and is very cute and medieval. It is well conserved with lot of charming streets. After you have to climb stairs to go up to see the different buildings of the monastery.
It is very impressive !! It is built directly into the cliff. After you have a walk called ” The cross walk” in reference of the walk of jesus when he was crucified. It goes up to the castle built up everything on the verge of the cliff.
The castle is more recent, you have to pay 2€ to visit the exterior but the view really worth it ❤
The castle is a private property but the monastery is completely free.
Here’s some other photos of the view at sunset
Rocamadour is definitely a place to visit, it is really beautiful with little medieval streets and lot of shops, very charming place. The monastery is very impressive and free !! You can climb up and visit everything.
Hope you guys liked my post 🙂
