I’m doing a little post about Segovia. My stay in Madrid reached the end and my parents came to visit me. So we decided to go to Segovia and then we flew back to France …
Segovia is a city located in the region of Castile and León, Spain. The old city of Segovia and its Aqueduct were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, these are the main tourist attraction of the city. The old city contains a multitude of historic buildings both civil and religious, it’s a very little nice city that you can visit in one day.
Segovia is also renowned for its gastronomy, we ate in a nice restaurant in the center, the food was really delicious and well prepared, and not very expensive.
You can go by bus from Madrid (Moncloa) it’s 15€ for return trip, it’s about 1h15min to go so it’s not very far.
Here some photos of Segovia 🙂
⇒ The aqueduct of Segovia construction’s date was for long a mystery although it was thought to have been during the 1st century AD. So more than 2000 years old !!! AMAZING
⇒ The massive cathedral was built between 1525-1577 in a late Gothic style.
⇒ Plaza Mayor de Segovia
The Alcázar of Segovia (literally, “Segovia Fortress”) is a castle, located in Segovia, it is a World Heritage Site and you know why when you see it. It was built on a rocky crag above the confluence of two rivers.
That’s all for Segovia. The city is nice, it’s really a place to visit in one day or two, you don’t need more but that aqueduct is really impressive and well preserved !!
Stay tuned 🙂
